| | whitsbrainFeb 27, 2022 There are a lot of hit or miss segments in Season 2, only nearly of my personal favorite Night Gallery stories happen to come from it. While I could attribute that to the sheer number of segments, I don't think that's why. Instead, I'll credit the all-out experimentation and the multifariousness of choices made by the directors in Season 2. I'm familiar with all of the Nighttime Gallery seasons, and I'll admit it's not on par with Serling'south original Twilight Zone. While TZ was a fantasy series fabricated up largely of morality tales, NG is a Horror serial that was not nearly every bit interested in couching letters within its episodes. Nighttime Gallery is a collection of stories, none of which have anything to exercise with each other. There's no need to watch annihilation in order, there's no never-ending story arcs to stay abreast of. It's like opening up a book of brusk stories and picking one from the lot. Sometimes NG reminds me of the old EC Comics, and maybe some of its Television successors similar Tales from the Darkside or even Creepshow. And what I retrieve is most interesting is that many of these stories are adopted works of brusque Horror by acclaimed writers like Baronial Derleth, H.P. Lovecraft, Richard Matheson and more. Rod Serling was not as involved in this even though the series features his name and episode introductions prominently. In fact, much of this serial is very of its fourth dimension and budget. The fashions are garish, and the special effects are oft wonky. A few of these segments will leave y'all scratching your head with an abrupt catastrophe, and some will exit you lot fascinated by their bear on. Some may make yous fall asleep while others may piss yous off because you'll feel like you've wasted your time. But some of them will make your jaw drop or send a chill up your spine. And THAT'S the hook. You never know what yous're going to get. They're the TV equivalent of Forrest Gump's box of chocolates, I suppose. Like the Twilight Zone, there are so many stories that if y'all spend time away from the series, the rediscovery ratio is high because there is no overarching unmarried story. Rediscovery is the dazzler of anthologies. I already own all of the NG seasons on DVD. I too ain Kino Lorber's Blu-ray release of Season One, which was loaded with bully commentaries by some terrific TV historians and writers. The upgrade in picture quality was a plus, as well. I'k all in for this Blu-ray release of Flavour Two and I'll also exist there for Season 3. |

| | Q-TipFebruary 27, 2022 Great. The superior 2nd flavour. I like the entire serial but Season 2 is where it'southward at! Besides, It'due south obviously no Twilight Zone but in it'south own right information technology is a great Horror TV Series. |
